MS Schippers turns 60 this year. We celebrate by putting the spotlight where it belongs: on farmers, the hardest working people in hygiene. The people who keep hygiene sharp and animals healthy, every single day.
60 years of MS Schippers
This year marks a special milestone. Sixty years ago, Martien Schippers visited farmers to sell cigars. He soon received several requests from farmers to deliver products, in addition to cigars.
One of his first clients was a cattle farmer who, due to expansion, could no longer keep his cows apart. Martien started looking for some form of visual identification and came with a plastic plate attached to a rope so that farmers could recognize their cows. This way, he kept farmers happy by offering the first ever tags for animals in the world.
That decision shaped everything. Farmers started asking many questions concerning various topics that Martien could sometimes answer, but most often he couldn't, but he would persever until he found a solution.This perseverence later turned out his key to success.

Not just a job, but a mission
Thanks to his persistence and innovative mindset, Martien quickly built a large customer base. Farmers looked forward to his visits because they often meant something new: a better tool, a smarter way of working.
For Martien, one thing was clear: a farmer should not only work on the farm: he should run it as an entrepreneur.
The company continued to grow steadily. During this time, the three sons of Martien Schippers (Harrie, Guus and Mark) joined the business and started working as sales representatives, each responsible for their own region. Over time, they gradually took over the company.
Hygiene is our core
Today, hygiene is our core. We believe clean barns, fresh water and sharp routines drive healthy animals, strong results and a healthy society. And no one knows the power of hygiene better than the people who practice it every day.
Long before dawn, you’re already walking the barns, checking lines, cleaning equipment, and turning pens. The work is quiet. It’s repetitive. It’s rarely praised. But it’s the start of everything that goes right on your farm.

And it’s just the beginning
Here’s to the next 60 years, in which we’ll keep standing shoulder to shoulder with farmers all over the world. We will keep raising the bar for ourselves, our innovations, our digital tools, and our impact on farm hygiene.
