The Schippers Group won the Wim van der Leegte Award!
Owner Mark Schippers and CEO Marco Fabrie received the award in Eindhoven on May 30, 2024.
The Wim van der Leegte Award is awarded to companies that stand out in terms of innovation, growth, sustainability and social impact.
This is the first edition of the Wim van der Leegte Award, which will be awarded annually. The event highlights the region's economic impact, innovative strength and strong entrepreneurship. Above all, it focuses on sustainable and social commitment, with a focus on cooperation.

Award Ceremony
The award was presented during the "Building the Future" event with an audience of more than 400 entrepreneurs and board members from the Brainport region. A successful event organized by WTC/e Brainport, supported by chairman of the day Wim Daniels. The Wim van der Leegte Prize was awarded by Wim's son Willem van der Leegte:
"We live in a region where 25% of all R&D spending in the Netherlands takes place. A region that breathes innovation. This innovation is made possible by all entrepreneurs who go the extra mile and show guts, agility, risk-taking, creativity and perseverance. Only by joining forces do we remain successful. The Schippers Group obviously puts this fantastically into practice, a jewel for our region."
Winner of the Award
The jury highlighted The Schippers Group's efforts to reduce antibiotic use in international livestock farming. As well as digital developments, including remote monitoring of pest control statuses and e-commerce. In addition, The Schippers Group provides innovative solutions for biological pest control. As a trusted partner and expert in hygiene for livestock farming, The Schippers Group provides comprehensive support to ensure the highest standards of animal health and welfare.
This award is a tremendous recognition and appreciation for all the efforts of everyone inside and outside our organization who contributes to the success of The Schippers Group.

Who is Wim van der Leegte?
The Wim van der Leegte Award was established after Wim's passing on November 19, 2023. Wim is founder of VDL (van der Leegte) and is an icon in the Dutch manufacturing industry. Under his leadership, the company grew to 16,000 employees and 3 billion in turnover. He preserved jobs in the Netherlands, with a focus on sustainable development.
'Strength through cooperation' is the basis of VDL Group's success. This theme was therefore central during the 'Building the Future' event & the Wim van der Leegte Award.
