The Suevia vacuum float switch is a float-switch system for use in drinking troughs for piglets, fatteners, and sows in the birthing pen as well as sows in group housing. Using a float switch allows the water level in a drinking trough to be kept at a consistent level.
The Suevia vacuum float switch features a 1/2" external thread connector and the mounting support (for water supply) is not included.
The vacuum float switch operates using a vacuum that closes off the water supply with the aid of a rubber membrane. The vacuum is created when the pressure in the water trough and the pressure of the vacuum float switch are the same. This stops the water supply. As long as the water level is lower than the end of the hose of the vacuum float switch, air will be taken in by the vacuum float switch until the pressure is the same. As soon as no more air can be taken in by the vacuum float switch, the membrane closes against the nozzle and the water supply is stopped. When the water level falls below the height of the end of the vacuum float switch hose, the vacuum is broken and the water flows again.
