This built up nesting box is ideal as a breeding ground for house sparrows, but ring sparrows and tits also make use of it. House sparrows can breed in colonies, so placing multiple nesting boxes together is possible. The nest box is made of the durable material Woodstone, a mixture of wood fiber and concrete.

You can clean the hive once a year when the young birds have flown out. For this purpose, the nest box must be removed from the facade so that it is accessible from the rear. If a second hatch follows, you can clean the nest box again in late autumn when there has been (night) frost. We advise you to check the soundness of the hive and the suspension annually.

• Preferably hang the nest box on the facade of a building under a eaves or gutter. You can also hang the nest box freely on the facade, keeping a minimum height of 3 meters. Nesting box not with the entrance opening to the south/west and make sure the nest box is not hanging in the sun all day. No nesting material needs to be added. Hanging the hive is done by means of a so called 'z' hook. This hook is screwed against the facade. The hive can then be hung on the hook (through the square hole at the back of the hive).
• After that, the cabinet still needs to be attached to the wall with the supplied plug and screw. With this new hanging system it is easier (and less heavy) to place the hive.
