The E-PILL is an energy pill composed of sodium propionate for all cows with a negative energy balance.

At the time of birth and afterward, a cow runs the risk of acquiring a negative energy balance. Lower feed intake and increased demand for energy result in a shortage of energy. This causes a cow to use its body fat as energy reserves, which release ketones as a by-product. This leads to even less feed intake, causing a negative energy balance. The result is decreased milk production and poor health condition for the cow.
Also, scientific research shows that giving energy on the day of insemination can increase the pregnancy rate.
