Smearing pastes used to control crawling insects work based on a stomach poison. The pest must consume it before there is any effect. Pastes are particularly useful in animal housing, they are very dusty areas and contact poisons lose effectiveness faster, which means that a stomach poison is a more effective control for insects such as beetles. Smearing pastes are easy to apply and are an essential part of successful pest control in the agricultural sector.
