Sandbags play an important role in covering grass or maize silage properly. They ensure that the film is properly secured and vacuum sealed, so that the biochemical process of the silage product is not disturbed. Sandbags are a simple way to ensure that the silage cover does not move or blow away. A good sandbag lasts for a long time, ensures that water flows through and is resistant to cracking.
An alternative way to ensure that the silage cover stays in place are lashing straps.
The lashing straps are available in various lengths. MS Schippers has a variety of products and accessories available in its webshop for the complete covering of the silage pit.
