The purpose of silage is to create a nutritious feed supply for animals. The harvested product, e.g. maize or grass, is sealed in a compact and airtight manner in a silage heap or silage bales, which ferments it and makes it last longer. The airtight closure of the silage heap is also important for preventing rot and mould.
The main conditions for a high-quality trench silo are the prevention of heating through good ensilaging management and silo unloading management (correct cutting and harvesting time, dry matter content etc.) and the use of good silage equipment. MS Schippers has all kinds of silage supplies available. There is a wide choice of silage covers, sandbags & accessories and preserving agents.
